Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family issues. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private adoptions at parties as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, in addition to commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to stay clear of the court process and litigation.
After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts played a significant role in helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at hands their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law such as divorce, child support, custody and guardianships as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy - and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the commitment to provide an individual approach to each client's needs.
