Washington County's Ashley Wilburn Recognized for Family Law Excellence

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice focuses on various aspects of family issues. She focuses the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, divorce property distribution and child custody battles. child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions and child welfare concerns. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Then, in 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, increasing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters that involved child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts were instrumental in helping children who suffered in the face of neglect or abuse at hands their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice extended beyond the realm of law as she actively served as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state area.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law such as divorce child support, custody, and guardianships, as well as estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies - and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with an intention to provide an individual approach to each client's requirements.
